Industry experts from all facets of the periodical business will share their in-depth knowledge over two exciting days. We welcome some of the nation’s largest retailers to the virtual stage – including Albertsons and Kroger. These retailers alone account for a significant percentage of all domestic magazine sales.
Also, we will hear from R&L Carriers, a privately owned American freight shipping company with a fleet of 21,000 tractors and trailers serving the entire United States. A senior executive from Irving Paper, one of Canada’s leading producers of specialty grade papers for flyers and magazines, will share his thoughts on the current paper crisis. All of the top executives from CMG and Accelerate will provide in-depth information from every aspect of the business.

Jay Felts

President, Comag Marketing Group
Jay Felts is President of Comag Marketing Group (CMG), where he leads a team that is entrusted with overseeing the retail marketing and supply chain logistics for many of publishing’s most storied media brands. As a 35 year veteran of the publishing industry, Felts was previously CMG’s SVP, Retail HQ Sales and Logistics, where he aggressively led CMG’s North American retail sales/logistics, in-store merchandising and category management teams. Before joining CMG, Felts was SVP of TNG, overseeing the retail HQ marketing activities. Prior to that, he was VP, Retail Sales with Simon & Schuster, overseeing retail sales and distribution of their book imprints across North America. Earlier in his career, he held positions of increasing responsibility on the sales staffs of The New York Times Company and Time Inc. Retail. Felts holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Florida, and currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia

Trey Holder is the Chief Business Officer at Accelerate 360. Former CEO of Mercury Retail Services (The News Group Central). Holder has over 20 years of experience in retail in leadership, logistics, merchandising, distribution, sales, marketing and IT development and helps develop both short term and long term business strategy.

Category Manager - International/Specialty & GM Everyday, Food Lion

Jessica Campbell is the category manager responsible for International, Specialty, and Everyday General Merchandise at Food Lion. She is a highly motivated and hardworking individual with vast retail and category management experience.
Jessica has been with Food Lion since 2009 and has worked in multiple departments during her tenure. She actually started working in retail at a Food Lion store as a front end manager, but has spent the last 10+ years of her career in category/merchandising/pricing.

Kevin Chapman
Vice President Sales and Marketing, Irving Pulp & Paper

Kevin Chapman is responsible for the sales and marketing of JD Irving’s Pulp and Paper Division. He is responsible for over one million tons of forest products (Graphic Paper, Market Pulp and Containerboard). He has been with JD Irving for over 37yrs. Kevin started his career as a CPA and moved from Accounting/Finance to Sales and Marketing in 1995.

Mark Davison
Head of Digital Transformation, Accelerate360

Mark Davison joined Accelerate360 as the Chief Technology Officer in 2019, and became Head of Digital Transformation in 2020 to lead the implementation of new digital platforms and robotic systems. Davison is a former IT executive and consultant with 35+ years of experience in process automation, information technology, sourcing, supply chain, transformation and acquisition integration. His consulting experience includes work for Coopers & Lybrand, Deloitte, AlixPartners and Information Services Group. His industry experience includes CIO positions for nationwide distribution, retail, media/publishing and textile firms. Mark holds a BA from Cornell University and MBA from Emory University.

David W. Forsman
EVP of Magazine Retail Sales, Accelerate360

David Forsman is currently EVP of Magazine Sales at Accelerate360. Prior to joining Accelerate, Forsman was EVP of Sales for TNG U.S. Preceding TNG, Forsman was CMO of Mercury Retail Services. As well, he has held various positions with Condé Nast Publications, and Time Inc. Retail during his 35 years in the magazine newsstand industry. Forsman received his Bachelor of Science degree from Fresno State University in Business, with a Marketing Concentration. In his free time, Dave is passionate about cycling, golf, and skiing

Michael Gillen
Executive Vice President, Comag Marketing Group

Michael Gillen is currently the EVP for CMG and has direct oversight of Publisher client business, involving product management, marketing plans, International Distribution and contractual negotiations for all CMG Publisher clients. Over the past 20 years at CMG, Gillen held several positions, focused on retail headquarter management and wholesaler distribution and compliance for CMG’s client publishers. While under his management, CMG’s client marketing team grew annual retail sales dollars each year, while signing and retaining some of the most coveted client business in the industry.

Mike Hornigold
EVP of eCommerce, Accelerate360

Mike Hornigold is a 10 yr. eCommerce veteran starting at Coca-Cola where he led the global eCommerce strategy development and execution across Pure Play & Omni-channel Retailers, Business to Business, and Direct to Consumer. After Coca-Cola, Hornigold led a Global eCommerce sales organization at Kids2 driving $100MM business on Amazon, opening Alibaba in China, and multiple other eCommerce retailers in the U.S., Europe and Asia. At Belnick LLC, a Private Equity owned eCommerce furniture company, Mike led a $350MM sales organization driving sales across some of the largest eCommerce retailers in the U.S., including Amazon, Walmart, Wayfair, Target, Home Depot and many others.

Ted Kallgren
Chief Operating Officer, Accelerate360

Ted Kallgren is the Chief Operating Officer at ANC. Kallgren began his career at Ernst & Young, LLC, where he obtained his CPA certification. His career includes other Chief Financial Officer roles, most notably his 11 years of experience with Pameco Corporation which culminated in a successful $50M initial public offering on the NYSE to fund its acquisition plans.

Nikki Laughlin
Chief Innovation Officer, Accelerate360

Nikki Laughlin offers a unique perspective to an ever-evolving marketplace from her retail & CPG experience in leadership roles at companies like Facebook, Meijer, Havas and Leo Burnett. Prior to joining Accelerate360, Laughlin served as President of Havas, with a client roster including Amazon, Adidas, AutoZone, Ferrara, Reynolds Consumer Products, Hefty, Michelin and Pillsbury. Recognized by Progressive Grocer in 2017 as one of the Top Women in Grocery, Laughlin is a self-proclaimed "retail nerd" who is happiest walking stores with merchants, solving business-problems with innovation and creativity.

David Parry
President and CEO, Accelerate360

David Parry has led the growth and development of accelerate360, LLC which manages merchandising programs, featuring more than 600 SKUs in general merchandise and health and wellness, for national and regional grocers, and is the largest periodical distributor in North America delivering magazines to more than 55,000 retail locations weekly. Already established as one of the leading retail distributors in the country, Accelerate has continued to expand through strategic acquisitions and mergers including CoMag Marketing Group and the recent addition of A360media, a media company with 22 brands and some of the industry’s leading celebrity and active lifestyle brands including Us Weekly, Life&Style, Star, Men’s Journal, Surfer, Powder, Transworld Skateboarding, and many more.

Mark Pearson is currently SVP of Logistics at Accelerate360. Pearson has 30 years of experience in the magazine industry. Prior to joining Accelerate, he was VP of Operations for TNG. Preceding TNG, Pearson was Corporate Director of Operations for Anderson News Company. Pearson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Auburn University.

Liz Roche
Chief Data Officer, Accelerate360

Liz Roche is a growth hacker with a passion for data driven technology solutions. She began her career launching loyalty and marketplace concepts for Groupon and continued in tech with companies like Linkedin, Epsilon and Facebook. Roche has a background in engineering and pioneered data driven targeting solutions for the retail industry at Epsilon. She continued pursuing innovation at Facebook where she launched a number of alpha products centered around customer loyalty and personalization. Most recently, Roche led Havas North America's data consultancy as the General Manager of North America and the Global Chief Strategy Officer; overseeing brands like Fitbit, Amazon, Rite Aid, and more.

Michael Strawn
Senior Director, Consumer Insights & Analytics, Comag

Michael Strawn is Senior Director of Consumer Insights and Analytics at Comag Marketing Group. He has played an integral role establishing Comag as a leader in data-driven decision-making. His team is well renown for developing numerous tools that have proven indispensable throughout the industry including retail merchandising, supply chain logistics, supply optimization and publisher economics. Strawn has 25+ years of experience in the single-copy industry, primarily with Hearst Magazines and Comag Marketing Group.

Ken Sustarsic
Senior Vice President of Sales, R&L Carriers

Ken Sustarsic is the Senior Vice President of Sales for R+L Carriers a privately held LTL carrier based in Wilmington Ohio. Sustarsic has over 38 years of transportation and logistics experience. Prior to joining R+L, he spent 25 years with Yellow Freight System based in Overland Park Kansas in various operational and sales leadership roles finishing his tenure at Yellow as the Eastern Division Vice President. In December of 2008 he started with R+L Carriers in his current role having spent time at one point or another over the past 13 years working with clients across a broad spectrum of different industries in the Ohio Valley, Midwest, Great Lakes, Gulf Coast, Southern California, Pacific Northwest, Western Range, Plains, Mid-Atlantic and New England Regions. Sustarsic will be retiring from R+L Carriers this coming January of 2022.

A high level overview of the US supply chain and the contributing factors as to why the current disruption across all modes of transportation and what to expect as we enter 2022 and beyond. For the whole supply chain to function efficiently every mode of transportation has to be working at or near equal capacity. If any mode fails there is the potential to bottleneck the whole supply chain. Right now, it’s ALL failing TOGETHER, but fixing one mode won’t do anything. It ALL needs to be fixed.
